Adnan Sami
Entertainment News : A popular music composer and singer Adnan Sami has found himself as the topic of online trolling — not for his music, but for his nationality. Years after holding Indian citizenship, Sami continues to be the target of Pakistani trollers, who criticize his decision to call India his home. But this time, the singer has responded with confidence, grace, wit, and a deep sense of clarity about his choices. Adnan Sami, who was born and for sometime, brought up in London to a Pakistani father and an Indian mother, initially held with Pakistani and Canadian citizenships.
However, in 2001, he moved and shifted to India, and after living and working here for many years , he officially became an Indian citizen in 2016. Since then, he has always remained vocal about his love for India — a sentiment that has often drawn the attention and jealousy of some people across the border.
In a candid interview, Adnan Sami opened up about the consistent trolling he has faced from Pakistan, especially on social media. Despite his focus on music and positivity, he’s regularly targeted with hateful messages accusing him of betraying his roots. However, Sami believes the issue is deeper than online hate—it's emotional and personal.
Sami likened the backlash to an ex-lover’s jealousy, saying the hate often stems from unhealed emotional wounds rather than political differences. “This hatred is just the debt of incomplete love,” he stated, adding that such bitterness is rooted in pain and misdirected emotions.
Clarifying his move to India, Sami emphasized that people worldwide migrate for better opportunities and peace of mind. His shift wasn’t political, but personal and practical. He questioned why his decision was seen differently, pointing toward the complex emotional and historical ties between India and Pakistan.
While Sami criticized certain government actions and narrow-minded individuals, he expressed deep affection for the common people of Pakistan. He acknowledged the love and support he received from them in the past and said he remains grateful for that genuine connection.
Responding to trolls with wit and wisdom, Sami used the Hindi proverb “Khisyani billi khamba noche” to describe the baseless criticism he faces. His final message was clear and powerful: he has the right to choose happiness and peace. “Being happy is my only crime,” he declared—an unapologetic statement of personal freedom.
